History of BASE Fatalities

BASE jumping is parachuting or wingsuiting from a fixed structure or cliff. Utilizing data from Blinc Magazine with their permission, 2 classmates and I web-scraped and assembled Blinc’s wiki BASE jumping fatality data into an interactive dashboard that showcases trends and graphical information regarding BASE fatalities. As I am involved in analyzing slackline data, this was a personal project for me but also meant to serve a community I consider family even though I am not a BASE jumper. The information is meant to serve the BASE community and honor the adventurous friends and souls who have been lost. This is a continuous work in progress. I have created a Fatality Submission form that updates the dashboard data, although I pray no one will have to submit one. If you have any questions or constructive feedback, please direct message me. Explore the data to learn more! Authors are Dan Walsh, Serina Brenner, Christine Hanson, and Sarah Brewer.
